Black Twinberry
Scientific Name: Lonicera involucrata
Add a distinctive native honeysuckle to your moist plantings with Black Twinberry (Lonicera involucrata), a hardy shrub found throughout British Columbia. Its paired yellow flowers and shiny black berries give it year-round character.
Black Twinberry is well adapted to the moist soils of Interior BC. Its tubular flowers, unusual bracted berries, and vigorous growth make it excellent for pollinator gardens, riparian plantings, and restoration of disturbed wet ground.
Growing naturally along streams, wetlands, and moist forest edges, this adaptable species draws hummingbirds and pollinators while providing cover and berries that support a wide range of wildlife.
